ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (PERMANENT - INTERMITTENT) / NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / VALLEY SECTOR / BIDWELL SACRAMENTO RIVER STATE PARK OFFICE / CHICO.
The reporting location for this position is the Bidwell Sacramento River State Park office 12105 River Road Chico, CA. This position will work under direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).Under direction of the Northern Buttes District, Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the Environmental Scientist supports the Wildfire and Forest Resilience Program (WFRP) throughout the district. This position will provide subject matter and technical expertise in vegetation, wildlife and environmental data, field and analytic methodologies, GIS, and policy guidance for the Northern Buttes District Wildfire and Forest Resilience Program WFRP. The position will require travel within Norther Buttes district and field-based survey work and requires independent action, the ability to both identify and solve complex project-related issues, and the ability to make sound recommendations to management for project and program improvement. Periodically travel Statewide to meet District and Departmental program needs and to occasionally work on weekends as needed.

40% office environment, 60% in the field. Daily and frequent use of personal computer, phone, and a variety of office software applications at a workstation. Sit in a normal seated position for extended periods. Periodically travel Statewide to meet District and Departmental program needs and willingness to occasionally work on weekends as needed. The work environment may have moderate exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Involves interactions with visitors. Frequent work outside of office. Work in a range of climatic environments from hot, dry areas, coastal beaches, forests, chaparral, and steep terrain. May be exposed to extreme weather, poison oak, and ticks.
This position requires travel Statewide to meet District and Departmental program needs and to occasionally work on weekends as needed.
