Job Summary

Rest Stop Ministries, Inc. (RSM), a faith-based 501 (c) (3) in the Greater Nashville, TN area dedicated to comprehensive, holistic, trauma-informed healing and economic empowerment of female survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, is recruiting for a Residential Coach for our long-term residential program.

The Residential Coach position is full-time (35-40 hours per week) and involves providing direct coaching to residents.  The position will report primarily to the Residential Manager, with guidance provided by the Director of Clinical Programs as needed. The Residential Coach, along with the other residential staff members, also serves as a voice for the residents during the weekly Tuesday morning staff meeting.

The ideal candidate will have previous verifiable residential experience with a teen or adult population. Two years of experience working in a relevant field preferred. Trauma-informed care experience would be beneficial for the position. The selected individual must possess the ability to coexist peacefully within the community while upholding the values and standards of Rest Stop Ministries.

We are seeking the right candidate with a heart and passion for seeing the broken restored. We have a strong team of like-minded individuals all moving towards the common goal of restoration for those in our care. Although the position is full-time, the arrangement of the hours could allow the Residential Coach to hold other gainful employment if desired.

Hours:

The assigned hours and days of the week may vary upon hire, depending on programming needs, but are typically (2) consistent 16-hour shifts per week or a 24-hour weekend shift plus a 16-hour shift, as follows:

  • Friday or Saturday night: 5:00 pm through 5:00 pm the following day (24-hour shift)
  • Sunday night through Thursday night: 5:00 pm through 9:00 am the following day (16-hour shift)
  • Required Tuesday morning staff meeting: 9:00 am – 11:30 am

Job Responsibilities

Through servant-leadership and role-model example:

  • Desire to serve women in recovery from trafficking, trauma, and substance abuse
  • Set the tone for a loving, caring community of support and growth; be available and approachable to residents for support and assistance while in the home
  • Utilize de-escalation, crisis intervention, or conflict resolution skills as needed in crisis situations
  • Uphold and direct applicable RSM policies & procedures and the RSM Residential Handbook
  • Maintain a living environment of safety, cleanliness, and order with shared responsibilities in accordance with RSM policy
  • Conduct daily chore checks
  • Facilitate the medication process for residents according to the RSM Medication Management Policy & Procedure
  • Provide resident transportation, using RSM vehicles, to local meetings and/or appointments
  • Participate in training and continuing education opportunities to increase knowledge and skills
  • Other Duties as assigned by/agreed upon by Residential Manager and/or Director of Clinical Programs

Qualifications

Due to the special sensitivities of our unique population, this position is open to women only. Survivors who are 5 years post-incident/experience with trafficking and have therapeutically dealt with their past and maintained sobriety from addictive substances for at least 2 years may qualify for this position and are encouraged to apply.

  • Two years of experience working in a relevant field preferred
    • Experience working with sex trafficking survivors, victim services, domestic violence, addictions, substance abuse, and/or other persons in crisis or vulnerable populations
  • Trauma-informed care experience would be beneficial
  • Confident in handling the role of authority within a loving community of support and mutual respect
  • Ability to work alone, follow directions and uphold written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to facilitate domestic tasks like meal preparation/cleanup, assist residents with personal needs, and generally be a supportive presence in a home environment
  • Ability to emotionally regulate in crisis or intense emotional situations
  • Ability to manage the balance of crisis work with self-care practices
  • Ability to motivate others towards achieving goals
  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open personal qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as required by law, professional codes of ethics, and in the best interest of survivors
  • Able to provide own transportation, and proof of liability insurance necessary to transport passengers in agency vehicle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish rapport

Additional Requirements:

  • A background check is required
  • Minimum of 2 years sobriety required for individuals in recovery
  • Valid driver’s license, state-required driver’s insurance, and access to reliable personal transportation; ability to travel throughout Middle TN
  • Must be willing to embrace and exemplify our core values and statement of faith
