The Position

Scientist

Summary

The individual will serve as a Scientist within Pathology Lab Research and Early Development (PLRED) to develop artificial intelligence algorithms, software and/or hardware. The role will support feasibility studies and evaluation of performance capabilities for new product concepts in early product development for a number of existing and new business areas.

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for designing, planning and executing research and development experiments including feasibility testing, optimization, validation and troubleshooting.
• You are expected to serve as a technical expert and resource, assess and develop new applications and technologies, and transfer them into full product development.
• You will participate in cross-functional team activities, collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the project requirements are being met.

Who You Are

Required: Bachelor's degree in Science with 8 years relevant experience.

Preferred: Master's degree in Science with 3 years relevant experience OR a Ph.D. in Science, entry level.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and technical skills in supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning and associated algorithm development, biosensors, multiphoton microscopy, bioinformatics, and tissue staining methods and techniques.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.
• Strong understanding of scientific principles and concepts.
• Strong statistical background.
• Experience in digital imaging and analysis.
• Experience in algorithm development.
• Experience with using R, Python, Matlab or similar programming languages.
• Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $81,100.00 - $110,000.00.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
